Thank you for your interest in my research. As of August 31, 2022 I have retired and will no longer accept new students for graduate research in my lab. Good luck in your search for the right graduate experience for you. A career in research is an exciting and rewarding path!
Linkages between benthic primary production and nitrogen cycling in Arctic tundra streams, North Slope, Alaska: A contribution to a large, inter-disciplinary program to better understand the basic ecosystem ecology of Arctic tundra landscapes, through an investigation of “bottom-up and top-down” controls on ecosystem processing.
Interactions between iron, methane, and phosphorus in permafrost-dominated landscapes: A collaborative project funded by the NSF Division of Biology, designed to explore how iron released by thawing permafrost interacts with the production of methane and export of phosphorus in rapidly changing Arctic landscapes.
River networks as sentinels of a changing climate: A collaborative project funded by NSF Polar Programs within the Navigating the New Arctic initiative, designed to explore how the distribution of biogeochemical characteristics in river networks change over space and time.
Scaling ecosystem processes in river networks: A collaborative research project funded by NSF Macrosystems Biology Programs program, designed to explore how small scale ecological experiments be applied to understand structure and function of large, regional ecological systems.
Changing Seasonality in the Arctic System: A collaborative project funded by the Office of Polar Programs at the National Science Foundation designed to explore how an extended fall period will affect the export of nutrients from Arctic Ecosystems.
Changing Seasonality in the Arctic System: A collaborative project funded by the Office of Polar Programs at the National Science Foundation designed to explore how an extended fall period will affect the export of nutrients from Arctic Ecosystems.
Northeastern Water Research Network (NEWRnet): A project to explore the use of next-generation water quality instruments for research on stream and watershed processes that could lead to better management practices.
Vermont Flow Monitoring Project: An effort to collect pre-intervention hydrologic data on streams that drain to Lake Champlain from developed areas Vermont, in advance of implementing stormwater best management practices associated with the Lake Champlain TMDL.
Stormwater management utilizing low-impact designs in urbanizing landscapes: A project designed to assess public attitudes and understanding of stormwater processes and issues, monitor effects of stormwater on suburban streams, and demonstrate the utility of alternative low-impact stormwater management options.
