The 2022 Vermont Day open house was a huge success, welcoming over 300 people to Weybridge, VT to meet the Morgan horses. This is the feature event of the summer for the UVM Morgan Horse Farm<\/a> (MHF), a proud tradition of exhibiting UVM’s historic herd of Morgan horses, the Vermont State Animal.<\/p>\n

Apprentices and MHF staff led demonstrations of Morgan horse versatility throughout the morning, including in-hand judging classes, training progression, sport and pleasure disciplines. The petting opportunity was very popular, but the mares and foals frolicking in the ring stole the show.<\/p>\n

Pictured is CALS Animal Science Senior Ali Nieradka sharing a petting opportunity with an eager visitor. The Morgan gelding UVM Burke is happy to oblige. In 2021, Ali was a summer equine management intern at the MHF and returned as a student employee for summer 2022.
