ASCI Lecturer Chrissy Rohan is an organizer of the fair.<\/p>\n<p>Extension Pasture Technical Assistant Amber Reed was quoted in a <a href=\"https:\/\/vtdigger.org\/2023\/02\/06\/as-baby-goats-died-in-charlotte-residents-seeking-help-hit-roadblocks\/\">VTDigger<\/a> story about possible animal welfare and cruelty issues on a goat farm in Charlotte, VT.<\/p>\n<p>Two new Extension Crop, Soil and Pasture Team staff hires, Abigail (Abby) Augarten and Anna Elewski, were announced in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.morningagclips.com\/crop-soil-and-pasture-team-hires-new-members\/\">Morning Ag Clips<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A UVM study about TikTok and the platform&#8217;s misleading glorification of weight loss was referenced in a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/01\/31\/tiktok-received-4-3m-for-weight-loss-ads-whistleblowers\/\">New York Post<\/a> article. NFS Associate Professor Lizzy Pope was quoted about how the TikTok content on weight loss was promising quick ways to lose weight.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outsideonline.com\/food\/a-sticky-day-in-the-life-of-a-vermont-sugarmaker\/\">Outside Magazine<\/a> published a profile of the day in the life of a Vermont sugarmaker that features alumnae Meg Emmons &#8217;16.<\/p>\n<p>To salt or not to salt icy roads in winter and what are the alternatives that won&#8217;t impact water quality, is the basis of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.willistonobserver.com\/living\/living_green\/to-salt-or-not-to-salt\/article_38af0398-9d09-11ed-ae61-3f8e5e244277.html\">Williston Observer<\/a> story. Extension Associate Professor Kris Stepanuck was interviewed about road salt effects and alternatives to protect forests and waterways.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reformer.com\/community-news\/food-connects-is-celebrating-10-years-of-serving-the-community\/article_78d00fea-9e57-11ed-9aed-e74256a50e36.html\">Food Connects<\/a> celebrated 10 years of serving the southern Vermont region. It evolved from a food hub to a regional food distribution program. The original food hub program was piloted by UVM Extension&#8217;s Hans Estrin.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huntingdondailynews.com\/daily_herald\/news\/program-can-assist-farms-considering-agritourism\/article_0da79b5f-bac2-5dae-8d27-0c4868411c14.html\">PA Daily Herald<\/a> published an announcement for assistance farmers can receive through the Agritourism Project, a partnership of UVM Extension and Penn State University.<\/p>\n<p>UVM Extension Professor Lisa Chase wrote an article published by <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.psu.edu\/low-cost-and-low-maintenance-overnight-farm-stays\">Penn State Extension<\/a> that discusses how farmers can set up low-cost and low-maintenance overnight farm stay business.<\/p>\n<p>Lisa Chase&#8217;s agritourism program was featured in a new publication about the National Extension Tourism Network. It was held during February.<\/p>\n<p>Samantha Alger was interviewed on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcax.com\/2023\/02\/14\/new-vermont-bee-team-study-pollinator-threats\/\">WCAX<\/a> about a newly funded initiative she is leading to protect pollinators in Vermont.
