Costa\u2019s presentation discussed precision technology applied to calf rearing.<\/p>\n<p>An article in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenbiz.com\/article\/reflecting-3-years-progress-us-dairy-net-zero-initiative\">GreenBiz<\/a> reflected on the U.S. Dairy Net Zero Initiative (NZI), a six-year project funded with at $10 million grant from the Foundation for Food &amp; Agriculture Research (FFAR). The project spans four U.S. dairy regions with leading dairy research institutions including the University of Vermont.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-left: 20px\">\n<li>Related &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/extension\/sustainableagriculture\/dairy-net-zero-project\">Dairy Net Zero Project<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>UVM Extension Professor Lisa Chase has published a book chapter: Chase, L.C., B. Springer, Dordrecht, The Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>UVM Extension recognized the Ackerman dairy farm in Hardwick, VT as the 2023 Vermont Dairy Farm of the Year. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dvalnews.com\/community-events\/top-dairy-farm-2023-announced\">Deerfield Valley News<\/a> highlighted the award-winning farm.<\/p>\n<p>UVM Extension Pollinator Specialist Laura Johnson was interviewed for an article in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sevendaysvt.com\/vermont\/the-buzz-on-why-vermont-produces-some-of-the-best-honey-in-the-world\/Content?oid=39241543\">Seven Days<\/a> about why Vermont produces some of the best honey in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rutlandherald.com\/news\/community\/rutland-herald-community-news\/article_0af1d7ca-a421-5558-8ce1-e0e96e24fe63.html\">Rutland Herald<\/a> Community News announced the STEM Showcase 5.0 event hosted by UVM Extension 4-H, to be held on November 4, 2023, at the University of Vermont.<\/p>\n<p>UVM Extension\u2019s Whitney Hull, Jeremy Russo, Heather Darby and Jeff Sanders will give presentations on corn, grain and soybean production for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rutlandherald.com\/news\/community\/rutland-herald-community-news\/article_44864071-2d44-52f0-bd6f-6a773dba55a7.html\">workshop scheduled on November 8<\/a> at Woodlawn Farmstead in Pawlet.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesargus.com\/news\/community\/times-argus-community-news\/article_de77feec-1527-5452-aa43-2c955e8c551a.html\">Times Argus<\/a> announced that six Vermont 4-H\u2019ers were among the more than 200 4-H dairy members from 30 states and several Canadian provinces selected to attend the 65th National 4-H Dairy Conference. Also announced was the 2023 Northeast Regional 4-H Horse Contests, which were held Oct. 15, and hosted by UVM Extension 4-H.
