Discuss concepts related to social equity, climate, green energy, and comprehensive planning, while learning methods to make transportation systems more sustainable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Enroll in CAS 2920 A<\/strong> &#8211; Offered both fall and spring semesters. <strong>Interest Form is required to enroll. <\/strong>This form will support the instructor in making a successful internship placement for you and the partner organizations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/pages\/responsepage.aspx?id=WHcXHGtN3EOq6zucQlYpZ_1hvaO1kmBLgdPBz0qYG81UOTk4SElLUTBDWjJFWUg0U1BMOTIwOVcyNS4u&amp;route=shorturl\">Click here to complete the form!<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"we-re-a-studio-in-berlin-with-an-international-practice-in-architecture-urban-planning-and-interior-design-we-believe-in-sharing-knowledge-and-promoting-dialogue-to-increase-the-creative-potential-of-collaboration\" style=\"line-height:1.1\">The Student Experience:&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will be placed at an internship site based on their interest within the urban planning field (sustainable transportation, land use planning, energy planning, etc.) that will ideally match their interests and academic goals. Past partners have included: CATMA, Green Mountain Transit, NRPC, Birchline Planning, and various Town Planning Offices in local communities across Vermont.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Time commitment:<\/strong>&nbsp;Students are expected to complete 100 hours of work for their community partner project (which is around 8 hours per week) plus weekly class time and short, contextual assignments. This program is designed to match the amount of work required of a typical academic course.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Credit information<\/strong>: The Sustainable Transportation Community of Practice counts as elective internship credit. He previously served as a Transportation Planner for the City of Burlington, the Town Planner for the Town of Richmond in Vermont, and the DRB Coordinator and Assistant Zoning Officer for the Town of Shelburne in Vermont. He holds a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Tech and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Planning, Governance and Globalization.
