When should I do a semester-away program?<\/summary>\n

UVM semester-away programs accept students sophomore year + up, but you can decide when you want to participate! Some students take advantage of these opportunities early to help them discover interests & passions before locking into a major. Others wait until second semester senior year and use the semester to launch their post-graduation career. Talk to your advisor about how this program can fit into your 4-year plan!<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Do these programs count toward the “last XX number of credits must be completed at UVM” rule?<\/summary>\n

Yes! These programs all award UVM credit and you remain enrolled at UVM whilst doing them, so they do not violate the above rule–unlike some study abroad programs.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

What type of credits do these programs award?<\/summary>\n

These programs award elective credit UNLESS you request from your Department Chairperson to count some or all of the credits toward your major or minor. See each program’s page for more details. <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n
