In CAS’s Communities of Practice program, you’ll build your skills while completing work for external organizations. Some students will work as day-to-day interns and some will complete projects — it all depends on what your community partner needs. No matter the format of your match, you’ll get to work alongside professionals in the field, doing real, impactful work for the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Work with a local museum, archive, library, or other cultural institution while gaining essential skills and learning about their impact on and within local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nonprofits & Social Change<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

After enrolling in one of the COP courses above, you will be matched with an organization. The faculty members who lead each COP are all either currently working or retired from the field in which they specialize. Their professional experience helps make this program more valuable to you as an emerging professional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Communities of Practice program is ideal both for students who are taking a first step into work-based learning, and for those who want to work with a diverse set of community partners and professionals. These courses are open to students of all majors at UVM. Sophomore year standing required except in rare cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vermont State Legislative Internship Program<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Intern directly with Vermont’s state legislators, staff, and committees in this 5-credit program.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Vermont Public Partnership<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Work alongside Vermont Public staff while earning academic credit.<\/p>\n<\/div>
