How to succeed in business

At the Grossman School of Business, we take a cross-disciplinary approach to our undergraduate curriculum, producing students who not only have a thorough understanding of traditional disciplines such as finance or accounting, but also of globalization, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. This, combined with our focus on experiential learning, prepares students to excel in the world of business — today, and tomorrow.

HIRING A UVM GROSSMAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS STUDENT

The Grossman School of Business wants to make it as simple as possible for you to find the right person for your organization.  We believe campus recruiting is about building a relationship between your organization and our students.  We work to help you design a customized campus recruiting strategy to develop this relationship, while maximizing your resources.’

Here are just some of the ways we offer to engage with our students!

POSTING A JOB OR INTERNSHIP

The University of Vermont utilized the career platform, Handshake for all of our job and internship postings.  As an employer this is your one stop shop to post openings, view students profiles, organize on campus interviews or events, and register for career fairs.  If you need help getting on the platform please don’t hesitate to contact us.

CAMPUS-WIDE CAREER FAIRS

The main Career Center at UVM hosts annual Career Fairs every spring and fall. These are great opportunities to recruit for open position and internships and are open to students from all majors. Invitations generally go out at the start of the semester to all employers registered in Handshake.

ACCOUNTING & FINANCE CAREER FAIR

In September the Grossman School of Business hosts this annual Career Fair geared towards students interested in Accounting and Finance. Many firms who participate in this fair also host open houses during this time.  Invitations for the Accounting and Finance Career Fair generally go out in early July.

SPONSOR A CASE COMPETITION

Sponsoring a case competition is mutually beneficial for students and employers. Employers get the opportunity to watch some of our best and brightest students take on real world problems and see how they work under pressure. While students get the opportunity to practice what they are learning in the classroom and deepen their knowledge and experience.

CAREER TREKS & COMPANY VISITS

Each year the Grossman School of Business takes groups of students interested in a particular field to employers throughout Vermont as well as cities throughout the country to learn more about the business community and/or particular industries. These are great opportunities to introduce students to your company or industry.

ON CAMPUS/VIRTUAL INTERVIEWS

Both the Grossman School of Business and Central Career Center offer private interview rooms available for conducting on-campus interviews. Plus, you can schedule virtual interviews for any time, any where!

You can request informational interviews through your Handshake profile.

INDUSTRY FOCUSED EVENTS

Company representatives are welcome to participate in Workshops, Panels, Roundtables, Lunch and Learn, or other events that fit their needs. These types of events are great ways to share real world experience or industry advice with current students, while allowing them to become familiar with your organization.
