{"id":29,"date":"2020-12-01T16:49:42","date_gmt":"2020-12-01T16:49:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.uvm.edu\/license\/?page_id=29"},"modified":"2024-09-27T17:00:54","modified_gmt":"2024-09-27T17:00:54","slug":"licensing-policy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/site.uvm.edu\/license\/?page_id=29","title":{"rendered":"Licensing Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Trademark Basics<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>What is a trademark?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>A trademark is any word, slogan, symbol, design, or combination of these elements, which identifies and distinguishes the goods or services of one party from others.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>A design that could create a likelihood of customer confusion due to similarity to the university\u2019s trademarks may be an infringement on the university&#8217;s trademark rights.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>The university has delegated the responsibility for maintaining, managing, licensing and protecting the university trademarks to the Licensing Office.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>University of Vermont Trademarks<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Examples of University Trademarks include any graphic representation relating to the following:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>The University of Vermont\u00ae<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Catamounts\u00ae<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>UVM\u00ae<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Style Guide<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Download latest <a href=\"http:\/\/site.uvm.edu\/license\/files\/2024\/09\/Vermont_09-24-24.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"URL\">Style guide<\/a><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Becoming Licensed:<\/strong>There are two types of licenses available with the University of Vermont:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Standard License<\/strong>\u2014allows you to produce products for resale, including, but not limited to, wholesale and retail.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Internal Usage License<\/strong>\u2014allows you to produce products intended to be sold directly to the university that are not for resale. This does not include sales to the University Bookstore.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/clc.com\/home\/get-licensed\/\">Click here<\/a> to apply for a license with the University of Vermont<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Policy Statement<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Trademarks identifying the University, its products, services, programs, or activities are the property of the University, protected under state and federal trademark law (\u201cUniversity Trademarks\u201d).
