Undergraduate researchers in the PARC Listening Lab play a vital role in supporting ongoing research in parks and protected areas. Through hands-on training in acoustic data analysis and applied research methods, students contribute directly to projects that inform park management, conservation, and visitor experience.

Legare Butler
Legare is from Charleston, SC and is a sophomore studying Wildlife and Fisheries Biology at UVM. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, working out, and spending time outdoors. Legare is very excited to begin researching and working with the PARC Listening Lab this fall.

Bea Debo
Bea is a first-year student at UVM majoring in Sustainability, Ecology, and Policy with a concentration in Ecology! She is from the Upper Valley region of VT and NH. She loves to read historical fiction, climb, practice photography, ski, and drink Earl grey tea with a touch of maple syrup in her free time. She’s excited to learn more about noise and light pollution through the research lab!

Sadie Dow
Sadie is a second-year at the University of Vermont studying Environmental Science with a concentration in Conservation Biology and Biodiversity. Originally from the coast of Virginia, she enjoys spending time in nature, swimming in the ocean, listening to music, and exploring new hiking trails. Sadie is excited to be a part of the Listening Lab and engage in research.

Hannah Ettinger
Hannah is a second year Environmental Science major from New York. In her free time, she enjoys climbing, running, playing guitar and jumping in freezing cold lakes. She is excited to be a part of the Listening Lab.

Anna Gibson
Anna is a senior studying environmental science with a concentration in conservation biology. She is from Portland, Oregon and in her free time she enjoys listening to music, going to concerts, and spending time outdoors. She is super excited to be working in the Listening Lab!

Hailey Lightcap
Hailey is a sophomore from Dayton, Ohio studying Environmental Science with a concentration in Global Environment and Climate Change. In her free time she enjoys watching movies, playing harmonica, making jewelry, and exploring outside. She is extremely excited to be apart of the Listening Lab contributing to interesting research!

Lindsey Maschler
Lindsey Maschler is a junior at the University of Vermont double majoring in Sustainability, Ecology & Policy and Parks, Recreation & Tourism. She enjoys exploring New England, hiking, music, and spending time outdoors. Lindsey is very excited to be working in the lab!

Liam Mccormick
Liam is a sophomore from Leesburg, Virginia, studying Sustainability, Ecology, and Policy with a concentration in Applied Ecology and a minor in Geospatial Technologies. He enjoys spending his time either hiking, gardening, or messing with computers. Liam is looking forward to working with the Listening Lab to help preserve the natural soundscapes of our Nation’s protected areas.

Fiona Medeiros
Fiona is a senior at UVM originally from Massachusetts. She is majoring in Environmental Science with minors in Global Studies and Geospatial Technologies. She loves hiking, music, and rollerskating, and is super psyched to be working in the listening lab, engaging in research designed for all creatures alike.

Cassidie Plourde
Cassidie is currently a sophomore studying Environmental Science and minoring in Geospatial Technologies. She is from Southern New Hampshire and loves to get outside, read, craft, and find new music. A fun fact about Cassidie is that she has been a barista for five years, if you ever need funky specials ideas, she’s your gal! She loves to learn different ways of looking at our environment and is excited to be working with the PARC Listening Lab.
