Welcome<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Silviculture and Applied Forest Ecology Lab<\/strong> in the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Vermont is made up of individuals from the Anthony D\u2019Amato Lab<\/a>. Research in this lab focuses on incorporating patterns of forest stand development and productivity into integrative silvicultural systems and approaches designed to meet a diversity of objectives, including climate change adaptation and mitigation, maintenance of native biodiversity and complexity, and sustainable commodity production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Much of this work is in collaboration with the USDA Forest Service Northern Research Station<\/a>, as well as state and federal agencies (e.g., Vermont Agency of Natural Resources<\/a>, Minnesota<\/a> and Wisconsin<\/a> Departments of Natural Resources), The Nature Conservancy<\/a>, and private industry within the northeastern US and Lake States region. In addition, our lab contributes to the broader research and outreach efforts of the U.S. Dept. of Interior Northeast Climate Adaptation Science Center<\/a>, Harvard Forest<\/a>, and Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science<\/a> and co-directs the Northeast Silviculture Institute for Foresters<\/a> with the University of New Hampshire<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Generally, I do not accept graduate students unless there is funding available to support your work through an assistantship or fellowship, so please refer to this website for advertisements of available assistantships and the Rubenstein School of Natural Resources and the Environment Graduate School webpage<\/a> for information on graduate assistantships<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
