In the US, the two of the most common tick-borne diseases in horses are <a href=\"https:\/\/aaep.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/BorreliaburgdorferiandLymediseaseGuidelines2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lyme Disease<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.merckvetmanual.com\/generalized-conditions\/equine-granulocytic-anaplasmosis\/equine-granulocytic-anaplasmosis?query=anaplasmosis%20horses\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.merckvetmanual.com\/generalized-conditions\/equine-granulocytic-anaplasmosis\/equine-granulocytic-anaplasmosis?query=anaplasmosis%20horses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Equine Granulocytic Anaplasmosis<\/a>, which are caused by bacteria from <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/tickencounter\/species\/blacklegged-tick\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/tickencounter\/species\/blacklegged-tick\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">blacklegged tick<\/a> bites. &nbsp;In other regions of the world, ticks cause <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aphis.usda.gov\/livestock-poultry-disease\/equine\/piroplasmosis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Equine Piroplasmosis<\/a>, a blood-borne disease caused by protozoal parasites, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.merckvetmanual.com\/nervous-system\/tick-paralysis\/tick-paralysis-in-animals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tick Paralysis<\/a> when they inject toxins into the bloodstream while feeding.
