Monitoring wildlife species has never been easier. With the advent of trail cameras and acoustic recorders, wildlife can be monitored over vast temporal and spatial scales, collecting images and recordings that may contain target wildlife species. The ease of data collection, however, is also its greatest challenge. With relatively little effort, terabytes of media files can be collected in no time, creating a bottleneck between data analysis and discovery. AMBER streamlines this process, harnessing the power of AI to identify wildlife taxa within media. Our comprehensive suite of professional services caters to a diverse clientele, ranging from private landowners to state and federal agencies.
Harnessing AI for Wildlife Monitoring
We use a variety of machine learning models to identify wildlife taxa within media, such as BirdNet to identify vocalizing birds and amphibians and DeepFaune New England to identify animals captured by trail cameras, among others.
Continuous Support
We offer continuous support from data collection through analysis for your entire monitoring team. Our workflow includes methods for tracking site visits, uploading media files, running machine learning models, and storing results in a customizable database. We provide continuous support at each step of the process.
App Access
Access your data through our on-line web portal at amber.uvm.edu. This portal allows your team to work with audio or image files, run standard analyses, and work with data. Unlike other monitoring platforms, our on-line taggers are highly customizable, putting you in charge of how files are tagged.

Researchers: Your on-line AMBER database can be downloaded as a SQLite database daily, allowing you to craft customized data analysis scripts using Python or R package, AMMonitor.
