The Kozen Research Group

The Kozen Group at UVM is a diverse, dynamic, and interdisciplinary laboratory with research opportunities for all levels of students at UVM. Please contact professor Kozen for currently available research positions.

Graduate Students

Hello! My name is Daniel MacAyeal. I joined the Kozen research group in early 2024. I completed my undergraduate degree in Physics at the University of Illinois in 2023 and joined the University of Vermont later that same year. My research interests are in the behaviors of novel solid-state electrolytes, as well as the fundamental physics of thin film deposition.

Undergraduate Students

My research uses Raman spectroscopy to understand phase evolution and anisotropy in the Niobium Oxide materials system.

My research focuses on using Hall effect measurements to understand ion concentration and mobility in thin-films.

My name is Maddy Cooney, an undergraduate physics and data science major with a passion for materials science. My personal hobbies include painting, music, mountain biking, hiking, and skiing. I work on lithography and processing for thin-film materials.
I am developing ultra-high-vacuum (UHV) surface science equipment to measure the composition of thin-film materials.
My research involves electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) of solid state ion-conductive materials.
