Our Team

Carissa Wengrovius, PT, D.P.T., Ph.D.
Dr. Wengrovius’ research examines the effects of mind-body practices such as yoga for promoting physical, mental, and social health. She is particularly interested in advancing our understanding of interoception’s role in developing healthy lifestyle behaviors such as sleep, physical activity, and self-regulation. Her work aims to create effective, easily disseminated programs that promote healthy lifestyle behaviors in school, community, and healthcare settings.
Dr. Wengrovius has worked clinically as a pediatric physical therapist in land- and aquatic-based settings, including early intervention, school, and private practice. She is also a 200-hour registered yoga teacher and has taught children’s yoga for over ten years.

Alex Berry
I am an undergraduate student majoring in Exercise Science. I am passionate about physical activity, mental well-being, and teaching youth populations. In my free time, I enjoy integrating my passions through volunteer work with local recreational programs. I spend a good amount of time exercising in various ways such as running, weight training, and playing pickleball. I hope to pursue graduate school with the intent to work in healthcare.

Katelynn Regula
I am a Junior Exercise Science major here at UVM. I am also in the Honors College and will be completing my thesis work as part of this lab. My professional goal is to become a Pediatric Physical Therapist so the work we are doing in this lab is very meaningful to me and my future career. In my free time I like to bake, go for drives in my Jeep, spend time at the ocean, and hangout with family, friends and my dog.
Jacqueline Hanson
Jacqueline is a DPT student at UVM graduating in 2027. Her interests lie in early intervention care by providing the best care for pediatric patients and their families to allow them opportunity to participate in any extracurricular activity they desire. Jacqueline’s current career interest include outpatient pediatrics and growing the field of research with the pediatric population. Jacqueline is especially interested researching to provide the best knowledge for physical therapist to provide the best care in the clinic by filling the gaps in areas that are unknown to the community.
Isabel Lutgen
I am an undergraduate student majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching. I hope to pursue graduate school so that I can get my Doctorate in Physical Therapy and work in Pediatrics. I am passionate about pediatric physical activity promotion and youth sports. I love working with kids by coaching girls’ recreational soccer and volunteering with Special Olympics Vermont. In my free time, I like to weight train, go on long walks, and hang out by the lake with my friends and family.
