Class of 2025: Alina Gerke

We are so excited to welcome the Class of 2025 to the Grossman School of Business community. Today’s spotlight is Alina Gerke who is coming to UVM from Hamburg, Germany.grossman school of business, class of 2025,

“Hi, my name is Alina. My hometown is Hamburg, Germany, and I look forward to studying at the Grossman School of Business and playing field hockey at UVM. UVM has inspired me with its welcoming nature. I’m looking forward to finally coming to the University of Vermont, moving in, meeting new people and having an amazing time with my team. I’m very excited to be called a Catamount and about all the new experiences to come.

One of my goals is to be successful in both, business and field hockey. In my business studies, I want to figure out what area I want to specialize in. In field hockey, I want to grow as a team and be successful by using my athletic skills. Apart from that, I’m interested in getting to know the country and especially Vermont.

Welcome Alina!

Zoe Macdonald Interning at National Life

This week we caught up with Zoe Macdonald, a UVM Grossman School of Business student, to see how her summer internship has gone so far.

“This summer I am working in the People Center at National Life Group, a life insurance company in Montpelier, Vermont. I have been lucky enough to have a hybrid work schedule and come to the office a couple of times a week.

Some of my main tasks as an intern have focused on talent sourcing and scheduling. For this, I work closely with the talent acquisition team in the People Center. Another component of my work has been building out a wireframe for the next National Life Group career site. This project has allowed me to work closely with other interns including Daniel Caamao, Class of 2022 at GSB, on developing key strategies for reaching top talent.

Overall, the intern program has been wonderful and through it, I have gotten to interact frequently with top executives, our CEO, and many other welcoming employees.”
