Fluorescence Spectrometer

The Cary Eclipse Fluorometer is a versatile fluorescence spectrophotometer designed for sensitive and precise measurement of fluorescence in a wide range of samples. Manufactured by Agilent Technologies, this instrument features advanced optics and detection systems that enable rapid scan speeds and exceptional signal-to-noise ratios, making it ideal for both routine and research applications.

Fluorescence

  • Measurement of fluorescence emission following excitation at a defined wavelength

Phosphorescence

  • Detection of long-lived luminescence following excitation

Bioluminescence

  • Measurement of enzyme-driven luminescent systems such as luciferase-based assays
  • Excitation: 200 -900 nm
  • Emission: 200-900 nm
  • Spectral Bandwith: 1.5 – 20 nm
  • Light Source: Xenon Flash Lamp 
  • Maximum Scanning Speed: 24,000 nm/min
  • Multicell Holder – Ability to hold 4 cuvettes at once 
  • Solid Sample Holder – can acquire spectra of many sample types including filters, powders, gels, optical components and fabrics.
  • Temperature Probes – accurately measure the temperature of the actual sample within the cuvette. 

The facility is evaluating the addition of a 96-well plate reader accessory for higher-throughput fluorescence measurements. Users with interest in plate-based workflows are encouraged to reach out, as demand will help guide future instrumentation upgrades.
