There is a history of landslides near the Winooski River and on Riverside avenue. The landslides have a connection to short, severe rainfall events and have been located in several different locations. The surficial material of Burlington being built on a sand deposit and the steep slope of the area both likely have contributed to the reoccurrence of landslides.
