FAQ’s for Applicants to our lab!

Please feel welcome to reach out to Dr. Hughes Lansing and ask questions about research opportunities in the lab and how they fit with your research interests.

As a graduate student mentor, I follow the junior colleague model, where my students are full collaborators in my work. Graduate students have extensive opportunities and support for presentations and publications as well as receiving training in grantsmanship and interdisciplinary research in health sciences.  I meet with my graduate mentees frequently and provide individualized supervision and training plans. I also focus on developing methods and writing skills, especially for students interested in pursuing research-emphasis careers. See the FAQs document (above) to learn more about applying to our lab and visit the UVM graduate programs website for general program information.

Undergraduate Students @ UVM

Students with interests in health psychology, pediatrics, neuroscience, medicine, public health, education and computer science all find exciting learning opportunities in the lab.

If you are interested in volunteering or taking course units with our lab, please review the below information and email Dr. Hughes Lansing.  She will contact you to learn more, discuss openings in the lab, and plan an interview.

We are looking for rising sophomore or junior students who are excellent workers, independent, and able to take direction well. We will provide all the necessary training so no previous research experience is required, although experience is certainly welcomed. For students who evidence strong commitment and interest, there are opportunities for working on publications or presentations based on lab and independent research projects.
