If you are 5 to 18 years old or 65 or older, a team of researchers wants to hear from you!
We are studying the experiences of children, teens and older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to understand how these groups experience disruptions, and actively shape the world around them, to then recommend measures to mitigate adverse impacts of future disasters.
We’re seeking participants to participate in a podcast! As a participant, you will:
- Complete two 5-minute anonymous online surveys, one before recording the podcast and one after recording
- Do one 10-minute sound check with the research team
- Record one 30 to 60-minute conversation with a young person or an older adult about your experiences and insights of the COVID-19 pandemic for a podcast
If you are interested, please fill out the consent form applicable to you.
We look forward to making a podcast with you!

Accessible Podcast Training Modules
We are excited to announce the product of the New Horizons Seniors Project created by the National Campus and Community Radio Association (NCRA), which our research team has helped to support. The New Horizons Seniors committee has developed a series of training modules designed to help seniors plan, record, and create their own podcasts. This training includes 10 modules on topics such as technical equipment, planning content, and tips for achieving high-quality sound.
These training modules were made for seniors, by seniors. They are written in accessible, easy-to-understand language to ensure that users do not need technical or academic expertise to follow along.
All 10 modules, as well as helpful demonstrations and terminology explanations, are available for free on the NCRA’s website at https://seniors.ncra.ca/.
We encourage potential podcasters of all ages (especially older adults) to use and share these modules. There’s so much great content out there, and we can’t wait to hear what you create!
