Using Citations in Group Reports & Memorandums
- Make sure to ask your professor about their preferred citation method
- Whichever citation method you use, be consistent throughout
- You will be using a lot of resources, so keep track as you go. You don’t want to be stuck searching for used references when your report is due the next day.
- MLA (or a modification of MLA) is the most widely used citation format in Business
- Use in text citations as well as a reference page at the end
- Type in “citation machine” in Google to find a free way to generate references in whichever format you need
- How to cite sources in a memo depends entirely on the class you are in and what the assignment is asking of you. See this annotated sample memo (PDF) for an example of in-text citing in memos for an accounting course.
