Dr. Anna Grichting is a Swiss Architect, Urbanist and Musician and holds a Doctor of Design from Harvard University. The founder and director of Bordermeetings and a researcher at the Geneva University of Art and Anna Grichting is a Swiss architect, urbanist, and musician and graduated with a Doctor of Design in Urbanism from Harvard University. She works as an educator, researcher, practitioner and performer. She is passionate about designing with Nature and going beyond our Anthropocentric view of the world towards an inclusive society that gives rights to all living organisms and to the earth.
Her professional experience includes working for the Mayors office in Geneva and the Aga Khan Trust for Culture. She has taught and conducted research at the Universities of Geneva, Harvard and Qatar, also collaborating with the Geneva School of Art and Design, MIT, and NYU, and she is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Vermont, Institute for Environmental Diplomacy and Security. At Qatar University, she was committed to empowering and inspiring her female students to become future leaders and with them she initiated a Living Laboratory to co-design the campus for the Food Water Energy Waste Nexus with a grant received from the Belmont Forum. Anna works withmultidisciplinary approaches and teams on Regenerative Urban systems, Food Urbanism, Urban Biodiversity, Blue Urbanism, Urban Legacies of Mega Events, Public Art, Participative Public Space Design and Border Landscapes. Her work on borders focuses on multistakeholder and socio-ecological approaches to anticipate and envision future developments in conflict zones and contribute to the fields of environmental, science and cultural diplomacy. As a musician she has produced and performed with the ensembles Desert Bridges in Qatar and Bahrain, Sufi Moon in Pakistan, and Bordermeetings in Switzerland and currently performs with her jazz trio Anna Jazz and Roses in Geneva.
