Jared Margolis

Director of Northern Environmental Law Center

After graduating from Colgate University, Jared attended Brown University, where he earned a Masters of Environmental Studies and completed a thesis on prioritizing lands for habitat protection.  After graduate school, Jared moved to Vermont to attend Vermont Law School.  While at Vermont Law, Jared served as the Environmental Editor of the Vermont Law Review.  

Jared now has a private law practice with a focus on land use and environmental law, and teaches Environmental Studies and Law courses at the University of Vermont and Johnson State College.  He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Vermont Chapter of the Sierra Club, and recently formed the Northern Environmental Law Center, a non-profit that will engage in litigation, legal consultation and dispute resolution regarding regional environmental and land use issues.
