Kathleen Osgood

Professor at University of the Arctic, and UVM

A long-term Vermonter, Kathleen Osgood lives in the same house where she grew up. She has a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Oulu, Finland. Osgood’s primary research focus is the literary ecology of northern native peoples. Her favorite authors are Sami poet Nils-Aslak Valkeapää, Chukchi author Yuri Rytkheu, and Gwichin author Velma Wallis. She has been involved with the development of the Arctic as a region through the University of the Arctic, a consortium of institutions involved with the circumpolar world. She is on the faculty of the University of the Arctic and teaches also at the University of Vermont.
