Stephen James Guion

Stephen was born and raised in the bucolic community of Waitsfield, Vermont, where his passion for international travel and understanding was cultivated through classical and modern languages. While studying abroad in high school, a metacognitive experience convinced him to pursue Neuroscience. After four years of multidisciplinary undergraduate research with an Art History study abroad in Florence, Stephen left for graduate school in Munich.

There, he innovated histochemical techniques, developed novel diagnostics for Alzheimer’s, and was employed as a Polymer Chemist in the Department for Experimental Neurosurgery. Wanting more educational diversity, Stephen switched his thesis topic to Social Physics, investigating temporal coordination between synchronized agents.

Upon return to Vermont, Stephen changed gears toward initiatives in Green Chemistry volunteering with Chemists Without Borders. In August 2021, he will have completed an AmeriCorps service year with SerVermont, teaching blind and visually impaired youth life independence and transitional skills.

Now, Stephen is ecstatic to be pursuing a terminal degree in the SDPEG program with a focus in sustainable Responsible Innovation.
