Jon Deloge and Lizzie Devane started Slipstream Farm in Newfane, VT in 2021, to grow and sell fresh mushrooms at farmer’s markets and to specialty markets and restaurants. They currently grow five varieties of fresh mushrooms and also produce mushroom-based tinctures. Their goal is to expand their business operations and increase production and sales by 50 to 75 percent, and they are also exploring the production and sale of compost using the nutrient-dense by-products of their mushroom cultivation process. Extension Forest Business Program Helps Grow Randolph Sawmill

White Rock Farm in East Randolph, VT was recently featured in an Agriview article highlighting their grant award for a sawmill expansion project through the Working Lands Enterprise Initiative (WLEI). Vermont Forest & Wood Products Business Roundtable

The May 2022 meeting of the Vermont Forest & Wood Products Business Roundtable was held at Gagnon Lumber in Pittsford, and featured a tour by owner and roundtable member Ken Gagnon. During the gathering, discussions ranged from the art and science of lumber drying, to how the different companies celebrate holidays and other notable events. “I learned two helpful things today,” said a smiling Brent Karner, who is also a roundtable member and owner of Clearlake Furniture in Ludlow, VT.
