UVM Nutrition and Food Sciences Professor Paul Kindstedt has been honored with the 2022 Babcock Award by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association. Named for Stephen Babcock, the famed agricultural chemist and University of Wisconsin professor, this award recognizes the contributions of those in education or affiliate organizations partnering with cheesemakers in the pursuit of dairy industry innovation and excellence. Migrant Farmworker Grant Builds Community Health Worker Capacity

Building on a decade of migrant farmworker health outreach by dedicated, committed and mostly part-time UVM Extension staff, the Vermont Department of Health awarded Principal Investigator Naomi Wolcott-MacCausland a $1,300,000 grant to ensure greater equity and access to COVID-19 vaccines for those disproportionately affected by the pandemic. Chen Receives USDA AFRI Grant for Potato Beetle Epigenetics Research

Plant and Soil Science Associate Professor Yolanda Chen has received a USDA AFRI grant for $683,490 from the Pests and Beneficial Species in Agricultural Production Systems program. With colleagues, she will be studying the role of epigenetics in the evolution of insecticide resistance in the Colorado potato beetle, a major pest of potatoes.
