An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of IPM cure.

The University of Vermont, along with specialists from New Hampshire and Maine, is holding their annual tri-state workshop online. It’s a two-session online Zoom event to be held on January 18 and 25, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. EST.

Sessions will include:

  • Information on the latest thrips threatening ornamentals.
  • Use of biostimulants to boost plant growth for IPM.
  • Managing water and fertilizers in different potting mixes.
  • How to submit specimens to your diagnostic labs and why.
  • Information about PFAS.

These sessions will help new and experienced growers produce beautiful ornamentals and bedding plants.

The workshops are for growers with greenhouses or high tunnels, Extension specialists, and professional pest managers. Growers of all experience levels and from any state are welcome to attend any location. Four pesticide applicator training recertification credits will be awarded to attendees for both sessions (approved in Vermont and states accepting reciprocal credits). Growers must be present and actively participate to receive credit.

Preregistration is required. Online registration and the program are available at https://www.uvm.edu/~entlab/IPMWorkshop2024.html

Recordings of each meeting are available for paid participants only.

Contact Cheryl Sullivan at (802) 656-5434 or cfrank@uvm.edu for details or to request a disability-related accommodation to participate.
