Congratulations to the recipients of this year’s Excellence in Staff Support Awards. These annual awards recognize staff in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Extension for exceptional work in the eyes of their fellow employees, supervisors, and/or the people they serve. The award is given to two individuals for their individual excellence and one team for their excellence in teamwork and performance.

McKay Leads New Cattle Genomics Collaboration

A team of researchers from four universities across the U.S. was awarded an Agricultural Genome to Phenome Initiative (AG2PI) grant to establish the “Cattle Genome to Herd Phenotyping for Precision Ag” initiative. UVM Animal and Veterinary Sciences Department Associate Professor Stephanie McKay is the lead principal investigator for the project, and she will work with researchers from Oklahoma State University, the University of Missouri, and the University of Idaho to improve cattle productivity through phenotyping technologies. Deb Neher Delivers Keynote at ISHS International Symposium

Plant and Soil Science Professor Deb Neher was a keynote speaker at GrowingMedia2021, the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS)’s International Symposium on Growing Media, Soilless Cultivation and Compost Utilization in Horticulture.
