The North American Center for Saffron Research and Development at the University of Vermont (UVM) and Rodale Institute in Pennsylvania hosted the 7th annual workshop on saffron production and marketing. The workshop was held on March 23 and March 30, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event was held online and will be recorded for all registrants. During December 2022, C-FARE (Council on Food, Agriculture and Resource Economics) board member and program chair, Jane Kolodinsky, hosted a national webinar about the current state of inflation in relation to food systems. Spring comes early to Vermont’s 100-acre wood on March 3, 4, and 5, for the 2023 Vermont Flower Show at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction. The Friends of the Horticulture Farm (FHF) will be there, easing out of hibernation with blooming crabapples and forsythia, raffle prizes, and guest curator chats about growing grapes, lilacs and more. The 2023 annual meeting of the Vermont Vegetable and Berry Growers Association (VVBGA) was held on January 24 at the Capital Plaza in Montpelier.
