University of Vermont Extension is hosting two free webinars of interest to agritourism operators during October, 2023.

Legislation to Support Agritourism in the United States will be held via Zoom on October 4, starting at 1:00 p.m. U.S. Congressional Representative Jennifer Wexton from Virginia and other legislative leaders will present information about the purpose and intent of the bipartisan Agritourism Act, designed to create an Office of Agritourism in the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Dairy Science and Hemp Research Grant Recipients Announced

Animal and Veterinary Sciences Associate Professor John Barlow

John BarlowJohn Barlow has received a USDA NIFA grant from the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) program. The $246,766 grant is for Barlow’s sabbatical project beginning in August 2023, to July 2024.

The project is entitled, Tools and Approaches for Antimicrobial Stewardship and Resistance Surveillance on Small to Medium Sized Dairy Farms. The objective is to advance Barlow’s knowledge, skills, and experience in surveillance and quantification of antimicrobial resistant pathogens on dairy farms, using next-generation high-throughput metagenomic sequencing methods.
