The 2021 Vermont Maple Conference
The University of Vermont Extension Maple program and the Vermont Maple Sugar Makers’ Association (VMSMA) were co-hosts for the 2021 Vermont Maple Conference, held on December 8 to 11, 2021. The conference offered a mix of online and in-person learning with 15 informative sessions led by maple industry experts, maple producers and researchers including many from UVM. Institute Funding Trains Students in Regenerative Agriculture
During August, 2021, Eric Bishop von Wettberg was awarded a subcontract for the New Roots for Restoration Biology Integration Institute (NRR-BII). The aim of this institute is to develop tools and training for students to examine the role of roots in regenerative agriculture and native habitat restoration. At UVM, Wettberg’s activities involve establishing a long-term intercropping trial of kernza, a perennial relative of wheat that can be used for baking and brewing, growing alongside alfalfa or clovers. Chickpea Whole Genome Sequencing to Improve Crop Production
