Calling outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds! Do you want a FREE weekend of camping at Stillwater State Park in Vermont? Outdoor Family Weekend is seeking enthusiastic workshop instructors in exchange for a FREE full-family registration to the event (up to eight people included in a registration).

Each year, Outdoor Family Weekend offers families in Vermont an opportunity to learn about and enjoy the outdoors. The 24th Outdoor Family Weekend (OFW) will be held from September 9 to 11, 2022, at Stillwater Park in Groton, Vermont. We are currently seeking dynamic and passionate instructors willing to share their expertise on outdoor recreation, wildlife, and conservation with families. Some topics that we are looking to bring to families this year include wildlife, forestry, orienteering and GPS, hiking, camping skills, kayaking, wildlife tracking and calling, foraging and wildcrafting, and wilderness survival skills.

Father, mother and two daughters show paintings they made of a bear and night sky.

Details About Joining as an Instructor

Instructors teach two-hour workshops, in subjects of their choice, offering the basics and providing hands-on experience in exchange for a FREE, full-family registration to the event (up to eight people included in a registration). This includes free camping for the weekend from Friday to Monday. New this year, we will be holding a special networking event for instructors Saturday afternoon at the Nature Center in Groton State Forest.

This program is a joint effort by the UVM Extension 4-H Program and the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources’ Departments of Fish and Wildlife and Forests, Parks and Recreation. The goal is to promote, address, and instill in the public a basic understanding of environmental conservation, safety, and fun in the outdoors.
