New Leek Moth Information Center Provides Pest Management Tactics

Not only is Tax Day right around the corner, mid-April also means the annual return of leek moths in our region. Leek moth is a pest of members of the allium family including onions, garlic, leeks, chives and shallots. Two CALS Students Receive Robert L. Parsons Award
Laura Eckman, a second-year PhD student in the Department of Plant and Soil Science’s Entomology Research Laboratory, and Sydney Miller, a senior undergraduate student studying agroecology, have been awarded funding from the Robert L. Parsons Fund for Professional Development in Production Agriculture. The Parsons award is offered in honor and remembrance of “Bob” Parsons, a dear colleague of many in the UVM College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). Spring Break in Bolivia: Dangl Presents Research on Indigenous Movements in La Paz
Ben Dangl, lecturer in the Dept. of Community Development and Applied Economics, spent spring break in La Paz, Bolivia as part of his research on social and political change within the country. While there, he presented his research in talks at the Universidad Mayor de San Andres and the Universidad Publica de El Alto focusing on local Indigenous movements and the decolonization of Bolivian history.
