Saffron Cultivation Workshop to be Held April 4, 2024

The North American Center for Saffron Research and Development at the University of Vermont (UVM) and the Rodale Institute in Pennsylvania are hosting the eighth annual workshop on saffron entitled, The Finer Points of Saffron Cultivation, on Thursday April 4, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The registration fee is $60. Saffron, the stigmas of a fall-blooming crocus flower, is the most expensive spice and medicinal herb in the world. It is now grown in many areas of North America by small, diversified farmers and could strengthen sustainable agriculture.

Experts and growers from the US and Lebanon will share their knowledge about growing, harvesting and selling this precious crop. World-renown filmmakers Gelareh Kiazand and Yara Elmjouie will share information on their global investigation of saffron adulteration.
