Ann Hazelrigg, Margaret Skinner, Heather Darby, and Terry Bradshaw were awarded a three-year, $165,000 grant from the USDA NIFA Crop Protection and Pest Management Program (CPPM), to fund the Vermont IPM Extension Implementation Program (VT EIP).

Since 2010, the VT EIP has worked with agricultural producers to address their needs and build sustainable pest management systems to reduce potential risks to human health and the environment.

The program will achieve national integrated pest management (IPM) goals by:

    1. Promoting the adoption of IPM in landscapes and gardens.
    2. Mentoring students for a new generation of IPM scientists.
    3. Tackling challenges of invasive and emerging pests.
    4. Forging collaborative relationships with northeast stakeholders and other CCPM programs to achieve long-term solutions to regional pest management challenges.

The grant also funds the pest diagnostic facilities and outreach efforts including IPM education for pesticide applicators. Learn more about the VT EIP program here.
