Crystal Baldwin, UVM Community Development and Applied Economics (CDAE) staff, was awarded the 2022 Attorney General Career Staff of the Year Award by the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG), at its annual meeting in Washington D.C. during December, 2022.

Throughout her 13 years as an outreach professional within CDAE and as a member of the Vermont Office of the Attorney General, Baldwin’s expertise has impacted the financial stability of Vermont citizens. She simultaneously mentored and supported hundreds of students through the UVM Consumer Assistance Program (CAP).

For over 40 years, the Vermont Attorney Generals Office and UVM have partnered to provide students with a unique service learning opportunity. CAP provides a consumer and business dispute resolution service and manages an information and referral hotline. It also alerts the public about financial fraud, and engages in outreach to inform the public about resources and information through presentations, press releases, blogs, social media, and more.

CDAE alumni who participated in the CAP service learning class often stay connected to the CAP community, and even reconnect at national award ceremonies.
