McKay Leads New Cattle Genomics Collaboration
A team of researchers from four universities across the U.S. was awarded an Agricultural Genome to Phenome Initiative (AG2PI) grant to establish the “Cattle Genome to Herd Phenotyping for Precision Ag” initiative. UVM Animal and Veterinary Sciences Department Associate Professor Stephanie McKay is the lead principal investigator for the project, and she will work with researchers from Oklahoma State University, the University of Missouri, and the University of Idaho to improve cattle productivity through phenotyping technologies. Vermont EIP Awarded $165,000 Grant
Ann Hazelrigg, Margaret Skinner, Heather Darby, and Terry Bradshaw were awarded a three-year, $165,000 grant from the USDA NIFA Crop Protection and Pest Management Program (CPPM), to fund the Vermont IPM Extension Implementation Program (VT EIP). Perkins Inducted into Maple Hall of Fame
Proctor Maple Research Center Director Tim Perkins has been inducted into the 2020-2021 North American Maple Syrup Council (NAMSC) Maple Hall of Fame. The award was presented virtually for the first time since the Hall of Fame was established in 1977 at the International Maple Museum Centre in Croghan, New York.
