Vermont Science Olympiad Showcases Students’ STEM Skills

Several high school students are in classrooms working on science projects.

On April 1, 2023, Extension 4-H Youth Programs co-hosted the Vermont Science Olympiad on the UVM campus. The tournament included 65 students competing in 16 different events across several academic disciplines.

UVM 4-H Teen and Leadership Specialist Lauren Traister stated that Science Olympiad creates a pathway for youth to gain knowledge and skills on a variety of STEM topics. “This year we expanded on that to include Science Sparks presenters during the tournament day, to connect participants to the STEM work occurring here at UVM,” said Traister, who serves as the lead in organizing the event.
